Latest Race Report
A weekend of mixed results, had a good day on the 65 and rode good on the 85, but not the results i was chasing...
65 class
I was stoked to finish in 1st overall with the competition as we had not only Australia #1 Wilson Todd but NSW #1 Tyler Bullen there so competiton was awesome no time for slackin off . I was able to win 2 motos and a crash in one gave me a third in moto 1 so with fastest lap times every moto I am happy with my progress in this class but stilll with riders like these ya cant be just "happy" I have gotta keep workin and training.......
85 class
I got good starts but felt not right ! Ya know when you have an awesome week of training then you just seem to not get it quite right or be as fast ..I mean my pace was sorta still there but my head couldn't get the passing thing down. I ended following Wilson and finshed 1 sec behind him but I am not after 2nds I want 1st....
Next moto I was lacking the confidence I had in previous races and it cost me speed and track position so 2nd again....the last moto I was determined to do better, I had a massive crash on the start at about 3/4 of the straight tapped out..not good, went down hard and my wrist was caining I got up and back to my bike but with all the stuff going through my head like "oh crap I need to get going" I couldnt start it by the time I did Wilson was coming around for his 2nd lap so I started off only just in front of him and after a lap and a half he passed me my wrist was getting jarred over all the step ups and ski jumps.I still finished a second behind him but a lap down so I got no points. My pace was there this weekend on some of the motos we were finishing a minute earlier than 3rd place so we had some good riding together but I know myself I wasnt at my best ......unfortunately I only got tied 4th for the day and it hurt my overall points.I am keen to fix that at the next 2 rounds .I guess while I have found a new level of speed it just goes to show consistency is what can get the podiums on the day.... I just wanna thank my Dad for putting the effort in with me and our training he had a hard time too with my racing on the weekend as he believs in me and knows what i am able to do to...but hopefully we cant turn it around next race meet...

Team Australia Take Oceanic Title
Australia wins 2010 Oceania MX Championship
The team of junior riders representing Australia at last weekend’s Oceania Motocross Championship has arrived home after successfully defeating their New Zealand counterparts.
The 2010 Oceania Motocross Championship was held in Harrisville, New Zealand on Sunday 7 March, and Australia’s 15-strong team proved too strong in both the 125cc and 65cc classes, while the honours went to the host nation in the 85cc class.
The riders warmed up for Sunday’s trans-Tasman event by participating in the Auckland Motocross Championships on Saturday, where the Aussie juniors performed well and, more importantly, allowed the riders to familiarise themselves with the Pukekohe track in preparation for Sunday’s main event.
“The track was absolutely fantastic, but it was one where passing was difficult,” Australian Team Manager Mark Willingham explained.
“The club was brilliant - each of our riders and their families were billeted out to a host family, which set the tone for what was simply an awesome weekend – undoubtedly one of the best events I’ve ever attended.”
The 2010 Oceania MX Championship, unlike previous years, was held as a Juniors-only event, a format which was well-supported by both countries.
“The fact that it was only Juniors this year was terrific,” Willingham continued.
“It was a great format which seemed to work really well, and provides amazing opportunities for younger riders to represent their country – they were all as keen as mustard!”
In the 125cc class, Matt Phillips impressed by taking out Race One and finishing second in Race Two, Errol Willis led at one stage before finishing third in Race Two, while Kale Makeham’s solid performances helped Australia narrowly claim the class victory by a two-point margin.
Joel Dinsdale was the only Australian to feature on the podium in the 85cc class – he finished third in Race One and second in Race Two – and this enabled New Zealand to claim a four-point class victory.
Contrary to the close results witnessed in the two older classes, the 65cc class was dominated by Australia, where the margin was 20 points after the two races.
Jordan Hill and Hunter Lawrence finished first and second respectively in both 65cc races, while Jackson Williams showed plenty of fight by riding and finishing both races despite suffering a knee injury in Sunday morning’s practice session.
“The young Aussie riders are able to start racing at an earlier age than the New Zealanders, and that was predominantly why the 65cc results turned out the way they did,” Willingham said.
“Otherwise, the racing was extremely tight in both the older classes, as well as being intense and spirited.
“Off the track everyone looked after each other really well, new friends were made and there was some really great relationship-building between both countries.”

Hunter on fire at Maffra
Practice for the 2009 Honda Australian Junior Motocross Championship has concluded today with Hunter continuing to impress with his determination and speed. Jason Macalpine of MXDAILY comented earlier " In the 65 9-U12 class QLD'er Hunter Lawrence was super impressive and afer the five laps of practise he shot himelf straight to the top. Hunter has been riding really well all year but he really did demand attention with the way he rode in practice. Hunter had a style that was beyond his years and looked great this morning with his time of 2:52.300 "
CRAZY DOGS KAWASAKI JOIN THE TEAM
MXHUNTER.COM is proud to welcome Crazy Dogs Kawasaki to the Hunter Lawrence Racing family . The Burpengary dealership, a long time supporter of junior motocross will embark on our motocross journey with Hunter as we prepare for the Australian Junior Motocross Championship. The team will make it's official debut for Crazy Dogs Kawasaki this weekend at the South East Queensland Motocross round held at Kilcoy. "I am keento race at Kilcoy this weekend and put the KX85 on the podium. Richard and the Crazy Dog's crew worked realy hard to have supplied me with a super fast bike and Paul at MPE has pimped my suspension so racing the bike at my home track for the first time will be SICK! " said Hunter. Preliminary testing of the bike had Hunter's lap times improving with every lap and minor adjustments made over the course of the test session indicated we have plenty of adjustability in all areas of performance. This result from a new bike gives the team a great boost leading up to the Aussie Titles later this year as the Maffra track has varying terain with sections similar to Kilcoy.
Team management commented earlier " Having Richard invest in our racing effort is a credit to him and his staff at Crazy Dogs Kawasaki and we cannot thank them enough for sharing our vision for Hunter's racing career. As with all of our supporter's he has worked tirelessly to get the bike ready for this weekends race and the bike radiates that hard work and commitment."
